On Saturday, we drove about 20 miles south to visit one of our friends. She has two boys and they in the countryside. So, Mauro had the chance to run around in their yard. The older boy and his father were out picking blueberries when we arrived. The younger one said hello to Mauro, who immediately took him for another puppy and jumped on him to play and establish the pecking order. Since the boy weighs 28 kg and Mauro weighs 48 kg and is taller than the boy standing on his hind legs, the poor kid got knocked on his behind. He took it pretty well and we calmed Mauro down but the kid was understandably timid and so Mauro played the bully. When the older boy got back, he was more forceful with Mauro and had a better time with him.
The older boy found a large stick and was playing tug-of-war with Mauro. This consisted of the boy digging his feet in and Mauro pulling him up and down the gravel driveway like he was on water skis. It was good healthy fun for both of them. We had intended to let Mauro run in the forest but, by the time he and the boys were through playing, he was too tired. So, we all had fresh blueberry pie and sat in the sun.
